However it is not only students who visit this area – popular with University staff and shoppers from the city centre – the West Port area is a favoured place for pub lunches. Nightimes see a broad mix of clubbers ( Fat Sams , Liquid and London nighclubs are all nearby) , students having a drink before making their way to the Dundee University Union … and of course there is the new Casino on the other side of the West Port Roundabout.

Update Sept 2011 – Coyles has now reopened – it appears to be part of a chain with the catch phrase “123″ which means all drinks are either £1 , £2 or £3″ – will update further once I have paid a visit .
