Located at 13 Hawkhill (just off the West Port , up from the Casino and at the foot of the Hub Accommodation apartments) the Byzantium is an upmarket restaurant serving a fantastic selection of mediterranean cuisine . The Byzantium appears to be one of the busiest quality restaurants in the West End of Dundee.
Suitable for pre or post theatre meals , staff nights out , graduation party or that special intimate dinner for couples.
Update June 2011 – friends of mine were at this restaurant this month and sang the praises of the food , the atmosphere and the quality of service…

Jahangir Tandoori Restaurant
Located at 1 Session Street (just off the West Port , up from the Casino and before the Byzantium) the Jahangir has been a staple on the Dundee Restaurant scene for a good few years now. A large restaurant (which features a sunken fish pool with loads of large fish (which do not feature on the menu I hasten to add)) that serves serving a wide selection of traditional Indian food – including balti dishes and a mean curry . The Jahangir has a popular evening buffet from Sunday to Friday running from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm at a cost of £7.95 and a seven day lunch buffet from 12noon to 4.oopm at a cost of £5.99.

Cafe Sicilia
– a small , traditional , Italian cafe /restaurant – simple surroundings – friendly and efficient staff , excellent Italian cooking , yummy cakes and (some say) the best coffee in the West End of Dundee – all at reasonable prices.
Update 15th April 2011 – Cafe Sicilia is currently closed for refurbishment and will be opening in a couple of weeks – under new management – watch this space for update – fingers crossed that the coffee will still be as good!
Update 17th May 2011 – Cafe Sicilia is now reopened – under new management – I can confirm that the coffee is still as good!

Opened in 2003 , Dil’se is a family run restaurant serving quality Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine in Dundee. Blue Note Bistro
A new addition to the Dundee West End food scene , the Blue Note Bistro is part of the Beiderbeckes stable of Dundee eateries. The Blue Note is a small restaurant (previously called Dandillys ) and is currently open most evenings.
Update Aug 27th 2010 ; I had lunch there this week and was delighted with the friendly and speedy service ; the quality of the food and the double espressos! The lunchtime menu is reasonably priced (£5.95 for a tasty chicken and rice dish) and is wide ranging – paninis ; range of burgers and a good option of rice based dishes (including tasty options for vegetarians). * More info to come soon re the evening menus.
